Social Investing
Many of our colleagues and you our investors are involved with charitable organisations to varying degrees. Those who can spare the time are actively involved and the rest of us try to do our bit through donations and the like.
Here at Beer & Partners we are always talking to you about investing in projects that we, and you, hope will generate good returns in the future. We thought it was about time we opened up our doors to help promote those out there who are struggling for cash in order to help those less fortunate than ourselves.
To this end we are aiming to feature a new charity each month in this section. Should any of these causes appeal please contact them directly. Our aim is to purely provide a platform to enable these smaller charities to promote their activities to you, not to benefit financially or slow down process.
All we ask is that should you contact any of the worthy causes in this section, that you do tell them that you read about here.
Should you be involved with a worthy cause that you think could benefit from being featured here please do let us know about it: mail@beerandpartners.com
RHN - 'Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability'
For over 150 years the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) in Putney, Southwest London, has been providing care and treatment for profoundly disabled people. We celebrate our history – from the determination of philanthropists Charles Dickens and Andrew Reed, to the achievements made by our patients every day.
As a leading centre in the country for rehabilitation, we never forget that the demands of each patient are different. We recognise that improved independence, enhanced quality of life and renewed dignity can make the difference between being trapped within the most distressing disabilities that can result from injury to the brain or wider nervous system, and a life of greater opportunity. That is why we concentrate on finding ability in disability, on developing and enhancing cognitive and physical skills, however damaged they might be inside the limitations of a disability.
Each year the RHN must raise over £2.5m million to provide the very best care and rehabilitation for over 250 patients. But our commitment comes at a cost – and with someone admitted to hospital with a serious brain injury every five minutes, our work, and your support, has never been more important.
If you would like more information about the work of the RHN, please visit www.rhn.org.uk or contact Adam Gallacher, Donor Development & Events Manager on 020 8780 4568 / agallacher@rhn.org.uk
Kazzum Arts Project
The Kazzum Arts Project was the first charity to be launched following this theme, at our London Investment Fair last year (4th November at Mark Masons’ Hall). Based in Tower Hamlets, Kazzum Arts Project is a small charity who entertain and raise awareness of important topics like diversity, disability and refugees, creating playful theatre and arts activities for children. Although recipients of grants from the Arts Council over the last 7 years, they need further funding to supplement this. It will enable them to continue to help children make positive decisions about their lives.

Cancer Research UK
This is the world’s leading charity dedicated to cancer research. We carry out scientific research to help prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. We have discovered new ways of beating cancer that together have saved hundreds of thousands of lives across the world. We provide life-changing information to patients, their families and friends, and run cancer awareness campaigns to help people reduce their risk of the disease. Our campaigning and lobbying helps keep cancer at the top of the political agenda. The reality is that one in three of us will get cancer at some point in our lives. Our groundbreaking work, funded almost entirely by the general public, will ensure that millions more people survive.
